Summer Reading "The Body"

The main characters are Gordie Lachance, Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp and Vern Tessio. Supporting characters are Ace and his gang. The book starts out in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine during the summer of 1960. Its the weekend of  Labor Day and three of the boys are busy playing cards in the clubhouse. They are interrupted when Vern arrives with a question for the boys. Did they want to go out and see a dead body?

While Vern was looking for a buried jar of pennies, he overheard his brother talking to a friend about Ray Brower a kid that had gone missing. They had stole a car and drove around the back roads near Castle Rock and Chamberlain. While walking on the railroad tracks beside a piece of road to find a place to pee, they stumbled upon his dead body.

After hearing what happened the four boys agree to go out together and find the body. They think that after finding the body they would be famous. Before the trip begins we find that Gordie's older brother was killed in a car crash a few months ago. Everything on the trip goes well until they realize that no one brought food. They head to the town junkyard to rest a bit. When none of the boys want to go and get the supplies the flip coins to see who goes. Gordie ends up going and gets some Coke and hamburg. When he returned to the junkyard his friends were know where to be seen. He spots them climbing over a fence. When he goes to join them he finds the junkyard manger, Milo Pressman who is angry that Gordie is trespassing. Gordie runs for the fence after Milo sics his dog, Chopper on him.

Gordie makes it over the fence and joins his friend. Teddy teases the dog which makes Milo livid. We learn that Teddy's dad stormed the beach at Normandy and when he returned was never the same. When Teddy was little he took his ear and placed it to a stove burning most of it off. Milo uses that to make Teddy go crazy. The three boys calm Teddy down and walk away. They walk until they reach a long railroad trestle. Everyone but Teddy is afraid to cross the trestle because if a train comes they would have know where to go. Teddy declares that they could either hang on the side of the trestle, or jump 100 feet down into the river below.  Vern thinks they could go five miles down the river and walk across another bridge but that would have taken a few hours. So they start walking across the track.

Everything goes fine until there Gordie and Vern reach the halfway point. Chris and Teddy were almost across because they hadn’t been as slow. Gordie thinks he hears a train so he reaches down and touches the track. It's vibrating and when he looks up can see smoke above the treeline. Everyone starts to run with Chris and Teddy making it to safety first. Vern trips a few times slowing them down and the train starts to approach rapidly at this point. Before they reach the end of the bridge Gordie pushes Vern and himself down into a pit to avoid the train. When the train is gone they climb out of the pit with only a few scrapes and bruises.

Walking until dark they set up camp alongside the railroad tracks. They eat there food and pass stories along and trivia. There awoken in the middle of the night by a creature(s) howling. Chris says that the four of them should take turns watching over them with the gun he stole from his dad. Teddy takes first watch then Vern, Chris and Gordie ends up taking the last watch.

They awake and it turns out to be a really hot day. They eat some berries for breakfast and venture out hoping to find the body today and get home tomorrow. Before lunch they find a swamp to cool off and get clean. What they don’t know is that there are leeches in the water. Chris finds a leech on Vern and they all run out of the water. They take the leeches off one another, but before its over there is one more leech left. Gordie looks down in his underwear and realizes that there is one clinging onto his testicles. He freaks out and picks up the courage to remove it. When he does the leech bursts. He faints making everyone worry if they should turn back and get help. Gordie shortly awakes and they head back out onto the tracks.

When they get near the road Vern's older brother stopped at they split up and look on the side of the tracks. Chris and Gordie on one side and Teddy and Vern on the other. Vern spots the body first and they scurry down the embankment to see it more clearly. Chris removes the branches that had fallen on the body and that’s when they get a full look. It's the first time the boys had seen a dead body. There interrupted when they hear footsteps behind them.

They turn around and see a angry Ace and his gang. Vern runs into the woods when he sees his brother. Teddy taunts them and runs when some of the older boys approach him. Chris and Gordie stood there ground and when Ace lost his patience and pulled out a knife, Chris pulled out his dads gun. Ace steps back and so does all the other older kids. Chris orders them to leave but not without Ace telling them that they would regret this. Instead of removing the body and becoming famous they cover him up with some blankets and branches and leave. They don't stop not even to sleep until they reach the beginning of Castle Rock at around 5:00 on the morning of Labor Day. They split up and go home.

We learn that Teddy and Vern became another face in the hall, and befriended younger kids and brought them to the clubhouse. Vern died in a apartment fire after a party when someone fell asleep with a cigarette still burning. Teddy was driving along the road where they found the body with a few of his friends, when he crashed his car. Unfortunately everyone died in the crash. Chris joined some smarter classes with Gordie and ended up becoming a lawyer. He died after trying to break up a argument and was stabbed in the neck. Gordie is now a writer and has a wife and kids and has published a few successful books, even some that he told on his adventure with Teddy, Vern and Chris.

The main characters are Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy (Corey Feldman) and Vern (Jerry O'Connell). Richard Dreyfuss plays the adult Gordie and is the narrator of the film. It is 89 minutes long and in technicolor. It has been released on Blu-Ray for it's 25th anniversary

While Stephen King claimed that this was one of his most successful book to film transitions, it still had some things that were left out in the film or things not in the book added in the film. The book took place in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine in 1960. The movie had it take place in Castle Rock, Oregon in 1959. In the book Vern has been looking for his jar of pennies for 4 years, while the film version has him looking for 9 months. Ace and his gang play mailbox baseball in the film while in the book they don't. The film also has more scenes with Ace and his gang, then the book which only had a few references to them. In the film Teddy tries dodging a train but is unsuccessful when Chris, grabs him off the track. In the book Gordie is the one who grabs him off the track. Also three of the boys die in the book version, while only one dies in the film.

There are quite a few interesting facts or behind the scenes information that I found out. The leeches during the leech scene were real. Corey and Rob tried out 30 different laughs before choosing which one to use for Teddy. The cigarettes used in the movie are made out of cabbage and lettuce leaves. Michael Jackson was asked to cover the song Stand By Me but not used in the film. The song also was reintroduced to the billboards, and was back in the Top 10 when the movie was released.  While not filming the boys were rowdy at the hotel. They all drank beer and smoked pot. They also threw patio furniture from the balcony into the pool below! They even covered Kiefer Sutherland's car in mud, which made the young actors even more afraid of him on film! The last fact is it only took 60 days to film the whole movie.

Romeo and Juliet: Tybalts Death

I think Juliet will be upset about Tybalts death. However its because hes a Capulet and Romeo killed him and hes a Montague. However Romeo was just banished from the kingdoms so she will be sad that he is gone.

Custom Short Story

There once was a young lady and her fiance. The young lady was a singer and the fiance was a CIA agent but the lady didn't know that. They both needed a home so they bought a yacht. The couple went to the mall to buy furniture for the yacht. They went to the halloween store to look for some candy. They were passing by the costumes when the wife noticed one of the costumes looked to real. All of a sudden the costume which was of the killer in Scream jumped out and started attacking the lady. The fiance took out his gun and shot the killer. Both ran off with the mall security following them. That night they ordered all the furniture to be delivered to the shipyard the yacht was being built at. There was a arrest warrant on the news for the couple because of the shooting. They stayed inside there home until they received news that there yacht was done. The fiance bought airplane tickets and they both boarded the plane. Almost done with the flight a terrorist stood up screaming he was going to take down the plane. The CIA agent stood up and chased the terrorist into the cockpit where they fought. The terrorist was killed but the CIA agent was stabbed. They started descending toward a swamp in Florida near the shipyard. The couple escaped before the crocodiles started eating the passengers on the plane. The plane started to catch fire and blew up! The couple made it to the yacht where they found a bomb planted on the side. The fiance de-activated the bomb and the both started to sail away from land. They were sailing towards the Bermuda Triangle when they heard a strange noise. That strange noise was the killer from scream that had followed them. Both the lady and the fiance thought he was dead but he wasn't so when they found out it was him they tried to shoot him but they were out of ammo so he came on board and took off his costume and found out that is was there best friend they they have known forever when the lady found out she flipped out and called the police but they did not believe her so they had to go back to where it all started and try to talk to the police and say it was all a misunderstanding the friend said i never died i just waited for the mall cops to leave. The cops ended up believing them so before they left the cop asked the fiance your a CIA agent right? So his cover was blown and he was like "damn, I can't risk losing my job because then I would no longer be intitled to my lifelong supply of Fruit Loops. I have no choice but to kill all these people. So, he whipped a rubber duck out of his pocket and aimed it at the soon to be victims. He then squeezed it and yelled "Die evil doers! No one messes with my Fruit Loops!" Nothing happened.. Confused, the CIA agent scratched his head and stared at the duck. Everyone was silent. Then there was a sudden outburst of laughter from the mall cops followed by the wife and the friend and other police.  It was all a trick on the CIA. They thought it would be a funny prank to do on him. He took it more seriously than they thought he would. When he found this out he started to laugh with them. He couldn't believe he got tricked that easily. In the end the lady and her fiance got marries and they lived on the yacht together.

Community Service

Community Service is important to me because it takes work off of someones list of things to do. Were holding the Day of Caring to give back to the community. I think its a good thing were doing the Day of Caring, because it shows that we can give back to the community. I wish that there were more places to volunteer because it would offer more things to do. Im going to a graveyard and I don't see how I'm giving back since people pay for the lot to be cleaned. I also wish I wasn't going to the graveyard because I went there in 4th grade to give back and it also is gloomy to be in a place full of death.

MaineCare Cuts

I don't use MaineCare so they can cut the money out of it. If I did use MaineCare then I would be against the cuts. As long as the elderly and children are taken care of then they can cut it. If they aren't going to be helped then they shouldn't cut it.

Of Mice and Men Essay (Banned)

Why would a piece of literature be banned in schools if it has been in the curriculum for years? Of Mice and Men has been banned in schools for a few reasons but here are three. One reason why it has been banned is because of the profanity used. Another reason why it has been banned, it has the killing of helpless animals. Finally it has violence in almost every chapter throughout the book. Now that we know more about the reasons why, lets look more in depth.

Profanity is used constantly in the book especially the N word.  Some teachers believe that this is not acceptable, even though students already know this profanity. Some of the profanity is racist or isn’t acceptable in today’s culture. Such as this quote made by Curley’s Wife “Listen, nigger. You know what I can do to you if you open your trap.” Some parent’s disapprove of the language  and call the book “trash”. A teacher who was asked on his thoughts or memories of the book being banned said “One time a students parents came to me with a copy of the book with the profanity highlighted.”

Throughout this book we see a countless number of animals that are killed. Lennie was given at a young age, a mouse from his Aunt Clara. We learn this when George throws away his dead mouse he found and talks about how Lennie shouldn't have any more mice or any pet. George says “That was your own Aunt Clara. An’ she stopped givin’ ‘em to ya. You always killed ‘em.” So first he would kill mice whenever he got them. One night in the bunkhouse a few of the workers offer to shoot Candy’s dog. Candy ends up letting the men shoot the dog but it left a great hole in his heart. Lennie also gets a puppy from Slim, which later on near the end is killed like all Lennie’s pets. Even though it’s read in high school, some students don’t like this. The reason they don’t like this is because they might have a pet and wouldn’t like this if it happened to there pet.

Some scenes in Of Mice and Men range from violent to gruesome. Such as when Lennie and Curley get into a fight. The author describes the violence very good and how gruesome it would have been. In a quote by Slim he says “Looks to me like every bone in his han’ is bust” which describes the scene very well. Lennie killing Curly’s Wife was violent because he snapped her neck while suffocating her. In the sad ending George shoots Lennie in the back of the head.

This is why Of Mice and Men has been banned in certain schools for years. From Profanity, Animal Cruelty and Violence it drove some parents over the edge and called it to be banned in schools.

Raised Parking Garage Prices

To raise a $12.00 fee to a $21.00 fee is unfair and expensive. It won't help the shop owners because for that price you  can get cheaper items and more of it. Why don't they tax other things in the city? You already have to pay for meters, and parking garages so why make people pay more to park? So just keep them at what they are.

Rough Draft Introduction

Of Mice and Men has a controversial history. It has been repeatedly banned by school boards. Why might this book have been banned? Is such an action justified?

Why would a piece of literature be banned in schools if it has been in the curriculum for years? Of Mice and Men has been banned in schools for a few reasons but here are three. One reason why it has been banned is because the profanity used. It makes people with disabilities seem like they are always getting into trouble and helpless. Finally it has violence in almost every chapter throughout the book. Now that we know more about the reasons why, let’s go more in depth in the topics.

From here I would discuss the three topics and then wrap the essay up with a conclusion...

Of Mice and Men Poem

During Mice and Men the two men have a good plan that doesn't work out in the end. In the poem the mouse builds a shelter and is destroyed by the tractor or whatever runs it over. So it had a good plan that ended up not working out!

Of Mice and Men Poem

Maybe it's how Lennie has issues and its like the mouse is Lennie and its how he sees the world? This poem was really confusing...

Next Chapters of Mice and Men

I already know what will happen in the next few chapters. I didn't read the final chapter but instead learned from watching TV. A main character is reading the book so he talks about it to his family. What happens in the end is Lennie kills a puppy and Curley's wife discovers it and tries to console him. They end up in a struggle with Lennie killing the wife. Lennie runs off with George trailing behind and a angry mob with a few weapons. Lennie goes to the riverbed which is where the whole book started and gets some water to drink. George catches up and they talk about the farm plans and such. George takes out a gun and shoots Lennie in the back of his head. The mob arrives and asks what happened. George says he and Lennie got in a struggle. Some people believe the story and some don't. Then the story ends...

College Debts

I guess it depends on how much it will cost and what you want to be.  Some places that are large and hard to get into schools will cost a lot. I think local colleges are a good price for most things and it supports local!

Spring Break 2012

For most of Spring Break I was sick with something. On Friday the 13th I got a Betta Fish which I named Squirt. Before that I went shopping at Walmart and Target where all I bought was a soda. The next day I woke up with a sore throat. On Sunday I woke up barley able to talk and when I did, I sounded like a smoker with one of those surgies with a hole in the neck. On Monday I woke up a little better and later on got a bottom feeder at PetLife in Millcreek and placed him in the tank. On Tuesday I was so much better but still had a sore throat. That night I went to the circus which was a lot of fun! On Wednesday I woke up with my nose stuffed up. Later on I went to Titanic 3D which was good but lacked 3D. It was still good to see it on the big screen. On Thursday I slept a lot of the day. On Friday I just hung around my house. On Saturday I cleaned my messy room which hadn't been cleaned for awhile. On Sunday I was doing some last minute homework and babysat my sister, for most of the day and spent a few minutes outside before the rain started. So I guess my vacation was ok but would have been much better if I wasn't sick!

Diploma Switch

I dont like the new bill because people could graduate at different times. You would have different age groups together that might not mix. I think however in some cases if a student has all the knowledge needed then they should be able to graduate. To graduate anyways you need to get so many credits so if you dont know the knowledge you have to retake the courses and you would finally learn the information.

Chapter 2 Favorite Character

My favorite character so far would be Candy because it seems he has done a lot in his life. He feels like he is going to get too old to work and is easily tricked into plotting or a scheme.

Addiction to Technology

I think that the article is true and this happens every day in school and at home. During school I can see people hiding phones under the desk and texting. They focus more on that then school work. At home there on Facebook more then there homework, since there aren't any blocks or restrictions. Myself I can go on my email and chat with people and, do school work at the same time but I will remind them that im working and It could take awhile to respond.

The Dust Bowl

The dust bowl started in the 1930's and lasted till the end of 1938. Winds kicked dust up which made a wall of dust. The dust made crops fall apart and die. When you had to go outside and take care of chores or the animals, you would breathe in sand which is bad for your health. It was hard to drive because the walls of sand/dust. That led to shortages in food and supplies needed. Also with the shortage of food being grown the prices of food went up.

Assisted Death/Suicide

I think it should be legal with a lot of restrictions. If you want to die then you have to have everything like furniture and money giving to someone when you die. So the will is all complete and finalized. If someone is old and they wan't to die because life is not fun anymore because they can't walk or do basic things then let them die with the help.

What Would You Do?

Well I would do a lot of things for friends. However I wouldn't do a lot of things for my friend also. It depends on what you have to do and the outcome. If your gonna get in trouble then it's not worth it.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Good Friend

Well I think the best part of being a good friend is being loyal.  If your loyal to your friend then it makes them look trustworthy and caring. A example would be if your being bullied then you could get support from your loyal friend.

MPBN Goes Dark

They should not give the station money because I never really hear about the station much. Seems like a station that's not popular. I don't watch it so it wouldn't affect me and you would still get news and other shows from other stations.

Friday, March 16, 2012

Pink Slime

They should ban the slime because it's not real meat but just scraps. So it's not really healthy to eat but a cheaper source to buy. It is also exposed to dangerous chemicals that are harmful to humans which is a health concern. If McDonald's doesn't use it why are we still?

Limbaugh Comments

I think it's no big deal if he said what he said. He shouldn't be fired because we have free speech and it's not that bad. I could see why his advertisers are dropping him though. They don't want to be associated with him and his comments.

Paid for Hurting Players

I don't think people should be paid for hurting each other in a sport. Now in hockey I guess its expected for there to be fights because people like it. They like seeing people being slammed against the wall and the puck flying. If teens see this happen then they will think it's ago to fight.

The Door In The Wall

The door in the wall is a story about a man named Wallace. During his lifetime the man sees a door which can bring him places. When he went through the door he saw a garden that haunted him his whole life in his memories.

LePage proposes Education Change

One of the changes he wants to make is give some funding to Private schools. I think this shouldn't happen because private means private. You have to pay to get in so it wouldn't be fair for people that do pay. Sometimes if you live in a rural community then you get to go to a private school if it's the only one around. So that's fair because it's the only one around.

Statue of Limitations

I think depending on which area of the crime is then you should extend the statue of limitations. If it's murder or sexual abuse (as in the article) then it should be extended. If your a kid and someone does something to you sexually, then kids usually don't tell someone. As they get older and they want to tell someone then they can. But wait! The statue of limitations would have been up and you couldn't. If it was extended then you could. That and murder should be extended to life because you would be able to tell what happened whenever.

Terror Charge

The teachers actions should be taken seriously because teachers teach us lessons. So if he teaches us that it's ok to say "I want to shoot you" then that would make kids think its ok. They should take his actions seriously. Since Columbine we have learned lessons and improved laws. It has probably prevented future massacres but not always. People aren't being to sensitive because what if the teacher actually did follow through of what he said. What if your child went to the school and came home and told you that. Since the parents old enough to remember Columbine and Virginia Tech then there gonna tell the authorities. They might even pull the student out of class because your afraid of the safety. Since this has come out in the middle of the Chardon Shooting then the teachers going to get a harsher punishment. It reminds people that if actions not taken it could lead to something more serious.

Anti-Bullying Bill

This bill is a good idea! The thing is the schools are doing the best they can, to stop bullying or prevent it. Bullying is somewhat of a issue however I would say most of the bullying has been taken online. Whenever I go on FaceBook I see something bad about something. So teachers should be able to friend students so they could see what's going on. Not all kids are going to report bullying because there afraid. With the bill there would be 3 programs and a zero tolerance policy on bullying. Lawmakers should pass the bill because it could reduce violence. It could prevent another Columbine or fatalities that take place during school.

The Tell Tale Heart

It starts off with a man. He had killed someone and the body is under the floorboards. Every day hes getting more and more frantic thinking someone will come after him or find out he did it. On the eighth night he then had police come and investigate. The man started hearing a rhythmic beat. It continued and the man released it was a heart beat. Slowly but surly he started going mad from hearing it and thinking the police could hear it he told them he had killed the man and where he was hiding. They took up three floorboards and found the corpse and the killer was brought to jail.

Superbowl Advertisement

It's gonna fail because we have the Asians doing all the work! There making the cars and electronics not to mention shipping food over! If you can bring the jobs back home such as Americans making the food and merchandise then it could put people back to work. Also buying local could help because small stores get the money and not large companies. Also if gas prices keep going up food goes up and other items making it harder for people to buy items.

Odyssey: Today

The reason we still read the Odyssey today is because it teaches you lessons. A few lessons are these...

1. When stuck between a rock and a hard place try the hard place; because you can try to maneuver the hard place

2. Don't always depend on others because they always wont be there for you

3. Don't take all the credit for yourself, because surely other people helped.

We are also reading this because for history we are learning parts of this book or gods...

Egypt Riots... Riot or Sport Outrage

I think that the riots are more over the government and what they've been rioting for. Im sick right now and can't focus so when I get better I can do a much better job :)

What makes a Hero?

A hero to me is someone that can lead a group or people. Isn't rude, snotty, greedy or any mean attitude. A hero doesn't have to do something huge. I don't have a hero because a lot of people say "Your my hero" whenever someone does anything! So is there anyone that is a hero? Maybe a firefighter or soldier...

Pension to Violette

I think he should get a lower pension and not get such a huge amount of money. Since he took money from the Turnpike or spent it on un-necessary items. To get $130,000 a year after spending $155,000 from the Turnpike is frankly unfair and lets him spend or get even more. So he's not really being punished for his crime he did. Of course he has to pay off the $155,000 so his $130,000 should help pay it off. I think the money from his pension could be spent in a better way...

Healthier School Lunches

I think that both students and government have the right to provide or eat healthy lunches. The government can easily step in and make rules as to whats served. You can get wheat buns/bread instead of white. The same with pasta or pizza dough. Put more vegetables on pizza and just swap out fattening foods with more healthier foods or ingredients.  If the child is getting reduced lunch which is paid for by the government then there should be a limit on what he or she can buy. Now the student chooses wether he or she wants to buy the food. If they have money and they want the food you can't stop them. So the government is more of the leader in making lunches more healthy!

Job Hoping

Carers can be affected by job hoping because it makes your future employer look like you can't hold a job. I think the article is true because it tells everything that job hopers do and what employers think. The article also says that you should give your employer awhile before quitting.

Piracy Bill HiJacked

I think the internet should stay un-censored to a certain point. Blocking foreign sites that you could watch or download movies and songs should be blocked. Getting movies to watch for free is really hard because you have to sign up for so many sites. Music however is very easy to download and is probably a bigger issue. Pictures that show nudity, violence or graphic images should be blocked. For text anything that is offending or harassing someone should be blocked.

Greek Mythological Creature: Gorgon

The gorgon is a creature that has golden wings and scale like skin. They are believed to be invincible like Medusa who was killed by Perseus. Both can turn people into stone when someone looks into it's eyes. In real life they date back to temples were the warded off evil. Now they are placed on some older skyscrapers and have water run out there mouth in a storm.

Lamb to Slaughter

A wife is waiting for her husband to come back from work. He works at the police station. When he comes home she makes them some drinks and when he wants another he gets frustrated. He demands she sit down and then she offers to make him dinner. He gets more frustrated probably from drinking. Thats when he tells his wife something. The reader never learns what he said but from what I guess he had a affair with someone. When she goes downstairs to get the meat out of the freezer and walks back up he starts to leave. Without thinking she swings the lamb leg at him and on impact killing him. She starts to cook the lamb and then leaves to get more items from the store. At the store she buys cheesecake, potatoes and peas. When she gets back she calls the police station and acts like nothing happened. They come over to inspect the scene. She's asked a lot of questions and her story matches up with what she did. They went to the grocer who confirmed she was there. After awhile they search for a weapon. They don't find anything that could have killed him. She offers them the leg lamb that was cooking and they accepted after hesitating. During the meal they joke about how the leg could have been the thing that killed him. In the other room the wife starts giggling.

My Life

My life is repetitive because im on the same schedule every day. I go to school every day besides the weekend the occasional weather closing or vacation. Every week on the same night we have the same food and not much changes. Certain days ever week its the same shows just different episodes. I want to have a exciting life with tons of money and go to the mall every few days. Hang out with friends and drive around town. I also want to go traveling to Hollywood and Times Square!

The Monkeys Paw

It starts with some people that could be a family in a home waiting for someone. Then a army general arrives and talks to them about a monkey paw that can grant three wishes. Once the three wishes have been used it no longer works for you. The old man in the household has much interest in the paw and when its thrown onto the fire he takes it away against the generals wishes. When the old man wishes for 200 pounds (money) he never gets it. The next day however they get 200 pounds when there is a accident at a factory and a family member gets hurt! The person dies and the mom wants him back. She wishes for him and then someone knocks at the door.

The Killing Fields

I think that the journalist was going to die. However using his smarts and waiting for the right moments he escaped the wrath of the Khmer Rouge. Also he traveled with other escapees to safety but only he made the journey.

Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge

A good example of foreshadowing was when he jumps off the bridge and the rope snaps at the bottom of the fall. He thinks hes free and swimming away and not going to dye but actually hes dreaming when hes dying. The rope snapped and broke his neck when he reached the bottom of the fall.

The Odyssey

Fact 1: It's one of two poems about ancient Greek

Fact 2: Composed at the end of the 18th century period

Fact 3: It was made into a motion picture (movie)

Fact 4: It takes place after the Trojan War

Fact 5: Odysseus' means trouble in the Greek language

Drug Tests before Welfare

I think that it's a good idea! The tests would eliminate people that would spend money on drugs and alcohol. It would help the state save some money that could be spent on other things. “If ‘those people’ are going to take my money, I should have a say in who gets it”. which is being said by numerous Georgians.

Winter Vacation

I thought that Winter Vacation was long enough! For Christmas I guess the big things I got was a BB Gun and $75.00 to Gamestop! Over break I spent my time on Facebook and watching my new movies I got for Christmas. On Thursday I went to my grandparents house for the rest of break. The highlights of that was watching The Muppets and going on a Sunday Drive all around Maine! Now I'm counting down to Summer Vacation!!

All my gifts from my stocking and under the tree! :)
